I scrapbooked!

it's a simple layout... but with a twist ;)

Yipppeee!!! it's friDaY!!

I don't know why I feel so excited today-other than that it *IS* friday! :D

Dawson is going to my dad's for the weekend, and if we're lucky Ally might go to Steve's parents for some parts of tomorrow -if we're lucky ;)

We are hoping BIG time to get some houses lined up for viewing. We are totally in the groove but seems like the agent we chose is really busy with her own life/job etc.

nothing much to say... just wanted to give a heads' up for a HAPPY FRiday! :D

i have NO idea?!

~why the comments thingy has gone missing on my last post.... ?

you and me both!

ok, so many of you balked at the "alter a rat trap" dare... and it's now Wednesday and I have YET had time to buy one! I could use a USED one but um that'd be... GROSS?!

so if you did do it... AWESOME!!!! post a link in the comments to a picture and I'll post it on my blog. if you didn't what HAVE you done scrapwise this week? I have been trying SO hard to keep my head above water... with house hunting, birthday party'ing, dog training and not to mention, house cleaning... I haven't had a lot of time to play. But! I did manage to get this layout done. I'm using it for the round robin layout in the A.C Bailey designs challenge too :)

I attempted to challenge myself and do the "blank space" thing... it's kinda hard! it looks so... empty! but I like it! :D the reason the picture is small is b/c it's a poloroid and I was not willing enough to learn how to use the new scanner to enlarge it and reprint :P besides then what would I have done with THIS poloroid picture? garbage it? do you have poloroids? what do you think of them? I am thinking that I was about 4'ish in the picture so this is like -27 yrs old.

inspire me!

k, I've been complaining a LOT lately... I have gotten this blog SO far from anything scrappy related, it's time to get things back on track. So here's a dare for ya...

~if you are (or aren't) big on altering stuff, the one thing I have yet to see 'altered' somehow is a mouse/rat trap! I'm going to attempt to find one and give it a shot! (probably a rat trap as they're bigger!)

~I also have been designing a few sketches that I'm thinking about posting -I have to refigure them onto the computer, or else figure out how on earth to use this scanner, dh says, "it's EASY!" WHATevah!

so let's see your altered rat/mouse traps this week :D come'on... I dare ya! ;)

whoohooo!! we have our first contestant!! actually Roni did this a LONG time ago ... but here's hers it's pretty groovy don'tchya think?

is it too much to ask?

I just want a sane life - I just want to be happy, not even rich... I want to unload a BOAT of stress, headaches included -for FREE!!! who ever said house hunting was fun? well, maybe it is, if you're doing it at YOUR own pace!

I'm tempted to disappear to California ;) I'm thinking it's time to start playing the lottery, or saving money!

I didn't even go to church today, everytime I'd roll over in bed, my head would just ache so bad that by the time I got back to sleep, I'd either need to roll over again or Ally would be beckoning...

{are you beginning to wonder why on earth you even bother to read my blog anymore?}

this made my day...

Of course my son would argue this until he the sun came up, but this was priceless

Grandmas Don't know Everything

Little Tony was staying with his grandmother for a few days. He'd
been playing outside with the other kids for a while when he came into the
house and asked her, "Grandma, what's that called when two people
sleep in the same room and one is on top of the other?"

She was a little taken aback, but she decided to just tell him the
truth. "It's called sexual intercourse, darling."

Little Tony just said, "Oh, OK," and went back outside to play with
the other kids.

A few minutes later he came back in and said angrily, "Grandma, it
isn't called sexual intercourse. It's called Bunk Beds. And Jimmy's
Mom wants to talk to you."

k, so the rest of my day -

*I* got to go shopping ALONE today! I was totally disappointed at first b/c the original plan was that we {Steve, Dawson, Ally & I} were going to have a family day out together. We were going to take Dawson out to choose a new bike! He's going to be 5 on Monday, it's hard to believe. As it turned out we decided to do the bike thing later, and today I got him a Pirates of the Carribean lego set. Tomorrow we're doing the cake/ice cream thing in the afternoon, and then I'm not sure what we're doing on monday -maybe we'll take him out for supper.

Anyway, our house hunting is ~finally~ in high gear, I just pray that the right things happens for us!

keeping you posted

ya the house...

we don't think so.

chatterbox

Not that anyone of us should be surprised, as she has literally been nicknamed my "chatterbox monkey" minutes after she was born! Ally is trying out new words today and it is SO sweet! I can't even pretend to spell out how they sound but it's absolutely delightful. She's been walking around carrying one of her doll babies and saying what sounds like "bah bah" but then she gets out the wipes and a diaper and attempts to change the doll's bum. I LOVE this mockery play, Dawson never really played quite this way. I wonder if it's because most of our days are just the 2 of us?
I'm very blessed, and I have to remind myself at 2-6am that I am VERY BLESSED! {even when I wish she was asleep!}

So we're going to have a look at a house this evening, oddly enough it's in Hagersville. I really don't care to live in town, but I'm supremely desparate at this point. I know it may not be the taj mahal but it's a house and I've been influenced to believe we can make it our HOME! :D ~and you know what else, there has been NOTHING lately that will suite our family that is for sale or rent. And the few places that are for rent have issues with kids and/or pets... the way I see it is, that we may as well pay a mortgage and HAVE something than pay rent and end up with nothing... AND! ...we prayed at ladies class about us and finding a place and BAM! today's paper has this new listing and it *could* be a possibility. I'll keep ya posted ;)

whatelse? Heidi is doing REALLY great with the obedience, she's FINALLY catching on and has settled down dramatically. I'm very happy with her.

OH!! here's the coolest bday card ever...Shannon made it for me :D

I'm addicted to these things :P

Feel free to cut and paste ~stole this from Tina's blog~

I WANT: my own house (well, with my hubby and kids!)
I HAVE: a dog wanting my attention
I WISH: I lived in California!
I HATE: feeling cold
I MISS: my best friend
I HEAR: the tv, the bird and the dog
I WONDER: often about what on EARTH Ally is talking about
I REGRET: not having a job that could have built up our lifes better before having kids
I AM NOT: active enough
I DANCE: no I don't
I SING: at church and to/with the kids
I CRY: not very often anymore
I AM NOT ALWAYS: punctual
I MAKE WITH MY HANDS: everything! I am a HANDS on kinda girl ;)
I WRITE: with my right hand
I CONFUSE: pretty well EVERYONE that I come into contact with! :D
I NEED: my own house!
I SHOULD: do something productive today
I START: the truck up?
I FINISH: my supper?

I think I'm caught up on sleep!

FINALLY! ~Even tho' Ally decided to have a party pretty much most of the night -grrr...

k, so where was I?

Shannon and Geo (along with Dylanie and Elly) picked us up and the first thing Ellyana said "BABY!!!!! for ME???" it was SO funny, and then she was practically falling out of her seat to attempt to reach Ally.

First stop.. STARBUCKS! :D and of course I really didn't have a clue what to order, and then Shannon got me a HUGE HONKIN' ice coffee that apparently I really must have needed, b/c it was GONE-ZO! LOL and here I thought it was "too big" {blush}

After we got to their house, which was breath takingly awesome! the one room that is RED, was so... inviting -I wish we would have sat in there more. Heck, I just wish I could have done ANYTHING there MORE! :D
I showered, felt human again and then we went out to pick up a few things -target- I needed flick-flocks ;) as well as a few more clothes for Ally. And had I have known that Shannon's idea of shopping was different than mine, I would have looked around more for clothes pour moi! :D
I brought enough capri's but I had planned to buy more tops while there... but no worries. I remained clothed the entire time. Dylanie gave up her bed for Ally and I and man, you know that feeling of "I can't wait to get home to sleep in my *own* bed? I didn't have it ONCE.

Since we didn't get there until Sunday when we orginally should have been there Saturday night, it sort of seemed like we missed an entire day. But none the less we went SCRAPBOOK shopping! :D ~I just felt so... "I'm in CALIFORNIA totally hanging out and shopping with Shannon... is this REALLY REAL?!?!?!" ~while she kept saying, "are you ok?" LOL I was just like, "uh, yah!" I was BEYOND, just "o.k" I do really wish that Ally would have either totally been NORMAL, or that I could have left her home. So for my birthday, Shannon, Elly, Ally and I went to this big scrapstore I found a few things probably nothing that I *need* just want... you know how it goes :D
Then we went to Fuddrucker's they make a HUGE hamburger and they have CHEESE that you can put on or dip your fries!!! ....YUM.... it wasn't quite as a 'happening' place there as it seems to be in Buffalo NY, but it sure was delicious!
We went to Joann's and Michael's (actually both places a couple times) and we totally scored on silk flowers for 1/2 price!! I can't wait to have time to indulge. Shannon did a Rockin' awesome layout with some of her silks, I can't wait to see it totally finished :) [are you going to put it on your blog?]
We ate like QUEENS! omg... we had steak for supper- that they cooked in the OVEN and it was SUPER YUMMY!!! my mom use to cook steak in the oven it was gross! so of course I was skeptical.
Wednesday we just laid low, I had HOPED big time that we'd have time to create stuff while Ally SLEPT... {eye roll- RIGHT!} we tried, I swear... we tried! I got to ooh and gooo over my goodies :D but that's about it. We had Shannon's homemade fried chicken that was better than any I've ever had, and I attempted to make poutine, but the gravy turned out a bit thicker and saltier than it should have been. It's kinda tricky to get good poutine gravy just right... I usually make it from the roast drippings, so to just make it from scratch, well, let's just say I let Shannon do it :P I think it didn't really seem to impress, they'll have to come here to have it again...
Thursday we headed out to see Old Sacramento.
It was a neat place with old buildings that were souvineer shops. We had fun and I totally could have kept going and going, but we ran short on time. We had a bit of a lunch issue, it took too long (waiting for our table, then waited for our order to be taken, then waited for our food.... then never did see our waiter more than once) Shan took care of THAT! LOL did everything short of telling him off including no tip. He seriously sucked! -and yes, Lanie and I thought he was gay :P
So while we shopped we found out that Jordan had an injury while lifting weights at school. He ended up with fat lips and stitches :(
We just went home and had pizza. I got a few things, but totally would have kept shopping.

Overall, I still feel like the entire trip was "a dream". I would LOVE to go back, I think with Steve tho' and no kids. I'd love to see SanFrancisco next time, this trip didn't permit ;) But I really had envisioned this trip to just hang out and enjoy time with Shannon :) And I feel like that is what we did -well, except for my cling-on :P

trip home -the flight to Chicago (IL) was 3-1/2 hours, and the landing was a bit shaky. You could really feel the tension and could probably cut it with a knife. It seriously had me praying!
Then we had a 3 hour layover at the O'Hare airport and it really wasn't bad at all. It {apparently} is a MASSIVE place, but I landed in the 'B' terminal and our departure was from 'C' so it was only about a a mile walk away ;) Once we found our gate and I had myself mapped out, I felt like I could relax and so we went and had lunch, walked around and then relized that our flight was pretty much one of the ONLY flights that wasn't cancelled to Buffalo -apparently a storm was hitting the east coast. We left on time, landed on time and ya it was snowy, but not really BAD... we got to Buffalo (NY) at around 8:30pm and Steve picked us up at 9:00pm -nothing like having your hubby WAITING for you? {ya that was a snarly} then once we crossed the border it was after midnight before we got home! INSANE snowy roads that weren't plowed at all. But we made it! :D

I keep thinking of more and more things to write about... there were these barn swallows that decided to camp out under the facia at the sidedoor apparently they left the day after we did!

and here's a cool glimpse I got of Lake Tahoe from the plane.

I can't WAIT to go back!!

I promise

I'll start posting about my trip soon!!!

I have severe jet lag. I'm beyond tired and it seems like when I lay down I just can't relax...

k, well... here's the beginning:

My flight was out of Buffalo (NY) and after you go thru' security your family cannot go hang out with you without a boarding pass. So Steve and Dawson left us there. As it turned out the fog delayed our departure by 2 hours, which mostly sucked b/c I only had a 1-1/2 hr. layover in Atlanta (GA)
We FINALLY boarded and felt like we were packed in like sardines! -3 seats-aisle-2 seats- what they won't do for another buck! Thankfully we arrived, and yes I missed my connecting flight by about 20-30 minutes. So, they booked my flight to leave 12 hours later and gave me an "overnight" bag and sent me off to a motel -don't forget this is a CiTY! -and I am JEN! the country girl, and not to mention I have 18month old Ally in tow... So we are in this rather large airport, that you have to take a train/subway type thingy to get out of. Then you follow signs that included a letter/number AND color code -I TOTALLY cracked up b/c I figured WHO could possibly get lost?!? ~probably my mil!~ {giggle} Low and behold there were 2 other families from Toronto (ON) and one from Hamilton (ON) that were all going to be staying at the same motel as us [YAH!!]

k, so the motel ROOM was freakin' AWESOME! king size bed... fridge/stove/microwave/tv/iron/board/pull out couch-bed/a desk, it was just totally wicked!
but I was dog tired and thankfully Ally slept ALL NIGHT! :D
the service at the motel SUCKED LARGE! I asked for a wake up call for 6:30am and it never happened! good thing I woke up at 5:50am and had lots of time for breaky etc. We were waiting at the door of the kitchen and they NEVER did make breakfast. Heck, I'da been happy with coffee! I should have made some in the room. I did get a cup a the airport and I've been known to tolerate some shitty coffee... I threw it OUT! it was like warm water from a sestpond! DISGUSTING! I did have coffee on the plane that was only about 1/2 as bad, so I had 2 cups ;)

When we got to Sacramento... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh OMGosh! it was absolutely incredible! I wanted to rip off my clothes and enjoy the warmth!!! ~but I didn't want to scare the birds ;)

I'll continue more tomorrow. It's SO honkin' cold that my fingers are getting numb.

I'm BAaaaCK!

well, I'm home from California... I could live there in a heartbeat! :D I miss Shannon and her family already!!! {thanks SO much you guys, I just cannot put how thankful I am for all your kindness and generosity} THANK YOU!!! :D

I have SO much to blog about but I'm still totally exhausted and I'll have to rest up more before I get started... so 'stay tuned' ;)

Friday, March 09, 2007

finally!

My bags are packed, I'm ready to go... I CANNOT WAIT! I was very tempted to make plans for little miss Ally to STAY HOME! tho... she's getting annoying :P I know that I'll regret saying this, but at this point I sure wish that she COULD talk, I'm sick of hearing... "uah..auh...." while she points at a general area that has at least 10 things she could want?!!?!?

sigh, don't get me wrong, I am THRILLED to be going, I do wish that it was sooner :P LOL

*THINGS*

are on my mind.

First off I'm feeling about 99.8% better :D yippee... Steve is about the same I do believe -he went back to work today and Dawson went back to school. Ally hasn't barfed in over 12 hours so that's a good thing too! :) yip yip yippeee!! ~man that bug was NASTY!

I had originally planned to do house cleaning/vacuuming before logging on today, but Ally seemed extremely tired so I figured, eh... while she naps I'll -compute- she has been in bed for an HOUR and is STILL not asleep. [grr...]

A friend of ours mom passed away and we were unable to attend any of the services, we felt bad about it, but the flu just did NOT allow us to do ANYtHING we wanted to do... I hope that they know that we were very sorry not be there for them. {{T&P}}

Something else that's been on my mind, is that I mailed a package out WAY back, (Nov. 23/06) and it STILL has not reached it's destination :( I *STUPIDLY* didn't insure it and now I could just spit I'm so mad about it! It was a box of 5? I think, handmade minature teddy bears. I'll NEVER send anything of such value uninsured/trackable EVER again! Here are some pics and the Superhero bear was definitely a one of a kind. I designed as I went along :(

We ALL got it!

I would not wish this upon my worse enemy... {well, ok, maybe I would!} snicker :P

I am feeling a lot better but will not be going far from the throne, just incase.

Dawson seems totally better, Ally seemed better and now seems to be acting as if reinfected and Steve is border line. If we can get her to have a nap I'm going to bleach-wash EVERYTHING.

I'm glad that we seem to be on the better side of this now~thanks for the thoughtful thoughts ;)

Saturday, March 03, 2007

well, it was NOT food poisoning!

Turns out Dawson had a flu-bug... and now Ally has it. It's really weird, b/c she is NOT a barfy kid ~praise HIM!~ I don't think I could handle 2 barfers! Dawson has ALWAYS been a barfer...

ANYWAY, she up-chucked SO much during the night, and then again today. I think we figured about every 15-30 min. she'd heave. Poor lil' girl. She is in fairly bright spririts right now, but it seems to come and go. Ally and I won't be going out for supper tonight :( but we will have some time home alone ;)

I just pray that it passes thru her FAST and then gets the rock outta here!

only 7 days! :D

Friday, March 02, 2007

OMGosh....8 DAYS!

and I'm OUTTA HERE! :D WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
just a little exicited, can ya tell? is it THAT obvious, how BADLY I need a break? ;)

So ya, life... Dawson is now feeling 'better' not sure that he is over -whatever- he had, but it started Wednesday evening around supper time he complained that he wasn't feeling well. This happens all too often if he doesn't want what we're having for supper or if he knows that he has school the next day. {sigh} So unfortunately I have to somewhat ignore that he is complaining, and trust me this boy is a DRAMA KING! :|
~anyway, so he sat down to eat but barely much before gagging (again another typical Dawson move) and I didn't feel like forcing him to eat or arguing with him. He went and sat down in the livingroom [I can see him from the kitchen -don't forget we live in a shoebox!] He started to complain again about having a sore tummy and that he didn't want "to go to school tomorrow", ok, so I told him to get ready for bed, as he was also up until like 10 the night before and at 7 in the morning. {that's enough to make ME feel sick!} He got ready for bed and I went up to tuck him in and say goodnight. RIGHT! -he barfed... ALL OVER his bedding! :sigh: change the bed, shower and change the boy, back to bed. At this point it's like 8'ish and Ally is wandering around watching us all and wanting to go to bed herself. So Steve tucked Dawson back into bed and I went to get Ally settled. NEXT! moments literally minutes! later... he barfed AGAIN! Luckily I had Ally duty and Steve got to clean/change bedding {snicker} The boy is now settled into bed for the 3rd time and had 2? {I've lost count at this rate} more bouts of barf... thankfully he at least made it into the bucket this time! The odd part is that there is no fever, no chills, no aches, pains just barfing! All night if the boy was sleeping the girl was awake and vice versa ~don't my children just LOVE me?~
Steve looked up symptoms for food poisoning- it's looking probable. And what can we do to help the boy -he reads- "VINEGAR!" yes, vinegar...

MORNING- thank goodness for coffee!! [and cream & sugar!]

so I wake up -did I even sleep?- Steve is tending to Dawson who is now on the can with the trots.. GREAT! Steve is telling Daws that he has some "medicine" to give him to help him feel better. The poor kid has NOTHING and I mean N-O-T-H-I-N-G in him, and he's crappin' and his dad is making him drink VINEGAR! :talk about 'good morning': ???????
BARFS, heck I don't blame him... I have my own vinegar drinking story -no comments! :P
The day goes on, he has 2 bouts with the craps, no barfing ALL day. He actually slept for a while, it was bliss! ;)
Last night Dawson decides he's FINALLY hungry -this boy is generally a food grazer- I was so exhausted, I put Ally to bed and I zonked! I vaguely recall hearing Steve telling me he made Dawson Kraft Dinner {yes we're Canadian and it's KRAFT dinner! aka mac'n cheese} and of course this a.m Dawson informs me that he barfed that up too! ~nice~
I made him a piece of toast with "just butter" -as per his request, so far he has consumed 1/4 of it and it's still in him....so far!

So ya, wanna be me for a day? LOL I sure could use the break! ;) LOL

And to think that last night my husband was giving me grief for being on the computer... while HE drank beer and watched GUY shows.. whatEVER! :P
